Sauteed Cabbage and Crispy Maple Bacon Rice Bowl
Ingredient List
1 head of Cabbage
1 Onion
1 stick of Unsalted Butter (for the rice)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Garlic Powder
Jasmine Rice
Maple Bacon with Salt and Brown Sugar
Salt and Pepper
Soy Sauce

To make this rice begin by rinsing and cooking JASMINE RICE with 1 stick of UNSALTED BUTTER according to the instructions on the package:

  • To rinse rice simply fill up a bowl with rice and water
    • Mix the rice around with your hands letting the water get very starchy
    • Then drain the water out using a colander
    • Many of my friends actually prefer to rinse their rice a few times until the water rinses clear
  • In my house I always make so much rice there are leftovers for future dishes

Then take out a mixing bowl and fill with thinly chopped CABBAGE and ONIONS:

  • On top of the vegetables drizzle SOY SAUCE and sprinkle GARLIC POWDER to preference
  • Thoroughly mix ingredients together

Take out a flat pan and bring to a high heat:

  • When hot, lower the heat to medium high and coat the bottom of the pan with EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
  • Gently add the mixed vegetables and let them saute until softened and slightly caramelized for about 4-5 minutes
  • Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon to ensure all of the vegetables are cooked evenly
  • Lower the heat if necessary to avoid burning

To fry up the MAPLE BACON take out a skillet, or medium sized flat pan, and bring to medium heat:

  • Then place bacon strips in a single layer
  • Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes or until browned on the bottom
    • To make them extra crispy flip the bacon strips over and let cook for another 2-4 minutes
  • Once the bacon is done set the bacon on top of a paper towel
    • The paper towel will soak up leftover oil
  • While the bacon is still hot sprinkle on some SALT and BROWN SUGAR (optional) for more flavor

When everything is done cooking you will mix the rice and butter together: Cabbage, Bacon, and Rice Bowl 3

  • Grab a bowl and fill with rice
  • Then add sautéed cabbage and onions and top with crispy bacon

Add as much as you want to the rice. Indulge and enjoy!!
